Spring Fling Festival & Health Fair at Wheeler Family Health & Wellness Center, Waterbury

 More Than 20 Community Organizations Participated, Provided Resources

Story updated April 24, 2023: Free food, family activities, music, and more were all part of a Spring Fling Festival & Health Fair at the Wheeler Family Health & Wellness Center, 855 Lakewood Road, Waterbury, on Friday, April 21, 2023.

Presented with support from the Office of Minority Health, this free event included activities for kids from Zumba to face painting, an egg hunt and more; free food and refreshments; health screenings through Wheeler’s Mobile Family Health & Wellness Center; information about medical and behavioral health care and other services offered through the 855 Lakewood Road location. More than 20 organizations from the Waterbury community also participated, and The Change the Script Resource Van was on-site with comprehensive information about opioid and other substance use prevention and treatment.

“This event offered a wonderful way to celebrate spring, while providing valuable health screening and information about our services, as well as other vital programs in Waterbury,” said Sabrina Trocchi, PhD, MPA, president and chief executive officer, Wheeler. “We are so happy to have collaborated with our funding partner and an array of organizations throughout the Brass City.”

Afterschool Program; Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services (IRIS); Madre Latina, Inc.; Neighborhood Housing Services of Waterbury; New Opportunities, Inc.; PosiGen®; Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury, Inc.; State Education Resource Center (SERC); and Wheeler’s Family Health & Wellness Center, Foster Care, and Walk with Me programs.
