'The Fact That We Are Still Here and Kicking is Amazing'

Wheeler's SAFE Family Recovery program in Hartford / Manchester and Program Manager Samantha Nisler, MS, LMFTA are mentioned in the latest issue of the Connecticut Department of Children and Families' "Spotlight on What's Right" newsletter, highlighting the recovery journey of a local family.

SAFE-FR provides Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT), Multi-dimensional Family Recovery (MDFR), and Recovery Monitoring Support (RMS) for parents involved in the child welfare system who have substance use concerns.

What is the message both Ryan and Megan would have for others who are struggling? In her answer, Megan uses the analogy of a flight attendant telling the passengers that if the airplane loses pressure, you must put the oxygen mask on yourself first before you can help anyone else.

"If your cup is not full, you cannot help others," Megan stated.
