Mott Prepares 1,000 Bags of Personal Care Items for Wheeler Patients

Mott Corporation Health Ambassadors spent the afternoon with Wheeler on February 28, filling 1,000 bags with personal care items, from deodorant to toothpaste and more, for individuals and families in our care who may need these items due to homelessness, chronic illness, financial hardship, or other reasons.

“Our partnership with Wheeler deeply connects our employee-owners with the needs of the community,” said Boris Levin, President & CEO of Mott Corporation. “When you are literally providing basic needs items to neighbors who could use the help, it brings back home the message that we are all part of something much bigger than ourselves. The Health Ambassadors that volunteer in conjunction with Wheeler exemplify the Mott core value of caring deeply.”

This project was made possible through philanthropic support from our donors. Wheeler’s Basic Needs Fund provides resources to address needs such as: food, transportation, clothing, shelter, medications, or other items or activities that cannot be accessed through our patients’ own resources and/or community-based programs.

The bags will be distributed to patients at Wheeler's community health centers in Bristol, Hartford, New Britain, and Waterbury in the coming weeks.

"Mott's employees are part of our team, and they show over and over that they not only support us philanthropically, but with their work and sweat," said Sabrina Trocchi, PhD, MPA, Wheeler President and Chief Executive Officer. "There is no way we could have assembled 1,000 bags in two hours by ourselves, and it gives us a chance to connect with each other, work side-by-side and personally do the work we're all so passionate about."
