Mental Health First Aid™ Training Sponsored by Wheeler Clinic, Main Street Community Foundation, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and the Southington Community YMCA

The Southington Health Outreach Project at Wheeler Clinic in partnership with Main Street Community Foundation, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and the Southington Community YMCA is offering Mental Health First Aid on August 2 & 3, from 9:00am–2:30pm at the Southington Community YMCA, 130 Main Street, Southington. The training is free and open to the public.

Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour training course designed to give members of the public skills to help someone with a mental health problem, or someone who is experiencing a mental health crisis. Included on SAMHSA’s National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices, studies show that training in Mental Health First Aid builds confidence in helping an individual experiencing a mental health challenge; reduces negative or distancing attitudes towards individuals with mental illnesses; and increases mental health literacy – being able to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders.

Registration and attendance on both days are required. To register, visit https://www.ctclearinghouse.org/registration or contact Justine Micalizzi at 860.414.1235 for questions.
