Living Well with HIV Workshop Series at Wheeler Family Health & Wellness Center, 43 Woodland Street, Hartford

The Wheeler Family Health & Wellness Center will offer a free six-week “Living Well with HIV” workshop series at the Wheeler Family Health & Wellness Center, 43 Woodland Street, 4th Floor, Hartford, starting Thursday, May 10. Workshops are held on six consecutive Thursdays from May 10 through June 14. Sessions run from 4:30 p.m.-7 p.m.

Open to individuals living with, or providing care for, someone with HIV/AIDS, the workshops will offer strategies to manage frustration, fatigue, stress, pain and isolation; exercises for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility and endurance; discussions about proper use of medications; techniques for effective communication with family, friends and health care professionals; tips for healthy eating, and more.

Participants also will receive a copy of the companion book, “Living Well with HIV” and a tool kit for active living.

The “Living Well with HIV” workshop series was developed by the Stanford University School of Medicine and is designed to help individuals living with, or providing care for, someone living with HIV/AIDS to acquire tools to confidently manage health and quality of life. The workshop is offered as part of Wheeler’s Ryan White Medical Case Management program, which is funded by a grant from the Community Health Center Association of Connecticut.
