Alternative in the Community
Program Description
A curriculum-driven evidence-based model focused on reducing recidivism in offenders by risk assessments, targeting criminogenic needs, case management and interventions. Group interventions are provided in cognitive skills, substance abuse and employment skills. There is also a community service component.

Requirements
Undergraduate or Graduate Student in Criminal Justice, Counseling or related field
Duties
Students will learn the basics of case management, and individual and group interventions while working with clients involved in the criminal justice system.

Development and Communications
Program Description
Wheeler Clinic, a unique provider of behavioral health services for children, adolescents, adults and families, seeks a development and public relations intern for the fall and spring semesters. Position requirements: strong writing, interpersonal and research skills, and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and selected social media.
Responsibilities to Include
- Development and implementation of Facebook posting schedule.
- Expansion of department media lists.
- Maintenance of Intranet website calendar.
- Research and collection of non-profit communications outside of Wheeler Clinic, including appeal letters, annual reports, brochures, websites, social media initiatives.
- Draft and distribution of selected media advisories, press releases.
- Special projects, as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Second-year+ undergraduate student pursuing majors in any of the following: health care or non-profit administration, public policy, marketing, business, English or public relations.
- Graduate students pursuing related advanced degrees also encouraged to apply.

Adult Outpatient Services
Program Description
Outpatient programs for adults and families. Individual, group and family therapy to address problems associated with, but not limited to: depression, anxiety, substance use, eating disorders, pain management, anger management, grief and loss, chronic illness, trauma, and gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender services.

Hartford, New Britain, Plainville
Requirements
Graduate students in counseling, marriage and family therapy, and social work
Duties
Students will have opportunities to perform at least one of the following: intakes, individual therapy, family therapy or group therapy. In-services will be provided weekly besides individual supervision.
Other information
Our internship program usually runs from September (Fall) to May (Spring). Students can submit an inquiry as early as January regarding the internship in the coming September. Please make sure to attach your resume.

Children’s Services
Program Description
Provides family, individual and group therapy including; anger management, substance abuse, social skills, girl’s empowerment group and adolescent coping skills. The program serves children and adolescents birth to 18 and their families who are experiencing developmental, behavioral, emotional, cognitive or family distress or dysfunction who are not in imminent danger to themselves or others.

Requirements
Graduate students in counseling, marriage and family therapy, and social work.
Duties
Students will have opportunities to perform the following: intakes, individual therapy, family therapy or group therapy. Group and individual supervision offered weekly.
