Wheeler Clinic’s Connecticut Center for Prevention, Wellness and Recovery is the state’s most comprehensive resource for behavioral health information and a leading provider of professional training and development opportunities, and prevention and health promotion services statewide.
Connecticut Clearinghouse
A cornerstone of the Connecticut Center for Prevention, Wellness and Recovery, Connecticut Clearinghouse is the state’s premier library and resource center for information on substance use and mental health disorders, prevention and health promotion, treatment and recovery, wellness and related topics.
Statewide Training Administration Services
The Connecticut Center for Prevention, Wellness and Recovery coordinates an extensive array of behavioral health training programs for professionals within several State agencies, including:
- Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS)
- State Judicial Branch, Court Support Services Division (CSSD)
- Emergency Mobile Psychiatric Services – Performance Improvement Center Training (EMPS – PIC)
Prevention Initiatives
Connecticut Healthy Campus Initiative
Provides administrative support to the state’s coalition, which is committed to creating and sustaining healthy campus and community environments throughout Connecticut.
Connecticut Tobacco Merchant and Community Education Initiative
Wheeler Clinic’s Connecticut Clearinghouse administers a comprehensive Tobacco Merchant and Community Education Initiative to reduce youth access to tobacco.
Strategic Prevention Framework
The Connecticut Center for Prevention, Wellness and Recovery is part of the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) State Incentive Initiative, which seeks to build a solid foundation for delivering and sustaining effective substance abuse and mental health services.
Prevent Child Abuse Connecticut (PCA CT)
Is a statewide program dedicated to the prevention of all forms of child abuse by supporting families and engaging communities. The primary goal of PCA CT, the Connecticut chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America, is the prevention of child abuse and the promotion of healthy family relationships.
Circle of Parents ®
The Connecticut chapter of the national organization is a statewide network of mutual self-help parenting support groups for anyone in a parenting role to meet regularly, exchange ideas, share information, develop and practice new parenting skills, learn about community resources, and give and receive support.
