Our Approach
Trauma, ADHD and stress-related disorders can be addressed in a variety of ways. Typically, they are treated through a combination of traditional therapy and/or medication. These approaches may not produce the desired effect or are not treatments of choice for some individuals.

Wheeler’s new evidence-based Biofeedback and Neurofeedback Services offer options to enhance existing treatment or provide an alternative to other trauma, ADHD and stress-related disorder approaches.

What are Biofeedback and Neurofeedback?
Biofeedback is based on the observation of physiological processes, such as muscle tension, skin temperature, breathing, heart rate, and sweat gland activity. Neurofeedback is a specific type of biofeedback that focuses on brain wave activity.

During a biofeedback session, bodily functions not typically noticed by clients are monitored by a trained clinician through the use of sensors placed on the skin. Measurements are recorded, processed with a computer, analyzed by the clinician, and displayed back to the client through a variety of graphs, charts, videos, or even music. With the clinician’s assistance, this information is used to help clients increase self-awareness, learn to self-regulate the body’s responses, change behavior, and improve overall health and performance.

Treatment Approach
