We provide services for children, adolescents and families in convenient locations in Central Connecticut or provided in your own home. Our treatment engages all members of your family to promote sustainable recovery, health and growth, and we provide linkages to our integrated continuum of pediatric and dental care, as well as other community-based services. For primary care providers, Wheeler is also one of three hubs in Connecticut for ACCESS Mental Health CT, helping providers meet the needs of children and adolescents with behavioral health issues.

Outpatient Services for Addiction and Behavioral Health Challenges
Five outpatient community health centers in Bristol, Hartford, New Britain, Plainville, and Waterbury.

Wheeler's continuum of services for children and adolescents focuses on intervention, assessment / evaluation, outpatient treatment, intensive outpatient services, and recovery supports. We treat addiction and behavioral health challenges related to childhood and adolescence. Wheeler works with children, adolescents and their families to establish treatment goals specifically related to individualized needs. Medicaid, commercial insurance or third-party payer accepted.

Extended Day Afterschool Treatment
Provides intensive therapeutic afterschool services for youth, ages 6 to 17, and support for their families. Medicaid, commercial insurance or third-party payer accepted.

School-Based Health Centers
Wheeler’s school-based health centers in the Bristol and New Britain Public Schools provide individual behavioral health services as well as linkage to other services in the community, including connections with the Family Health and Wellness Center for primary and dental care, and a broad continuum of outpatient and community-based care.

Autism Spectrum Evaluation and Assessment
Serves children ages 3 and older and includes multidisciplinary autism spectrum diagnostic evaluation and assessment services. Services are now offered at 91 Northwest Drive, Plainville, Medicaid accepted.

Youth and Family TREE
For teens and young adults, finding the path to a healthy, happy life can be challenging, even amid the most optimal circumstances. For young people with struggling substance use or other life challenges—particularly as they are transitioning to adulthood—finding that path can prove to be even more difficult. Wheeler’s Youth and Family TREE program can help by supporting teens and young adults, ages 16 to 25, and their families, as well as community providers who care for them. Our goal is to assist teens and young adults in getting connected to treatment and linking them with needed resources in order to stay connected to treatment.

Intensive In-Home Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services (IICAPS)
A time-limited, in-home stabilization service for children and adolescents with serious emotional disorders. Individuals and families may self-refer, and referrals are also accepted from schools, community and State systems. Referrals also accepted from the community. Medicaid, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield , or third-party payer accepted.

Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT)
An innovative, intensive in-home service for youth, ages 9-18, with substance use issues, oppositional behaviors and family conflict. Serves adolescents and their families. Individuals and families may self-refer, and referrals are also accepted from schools, community and State systems. Medicaid, commercial insurance accepted. Treatment provided regardless of an individual's ability to pay.

Intensive In-home Behavioral Health Services (IIBHS)
An innovative in-home service that serves children, adolescents and young adults, ages 3 to 24, with acute psychiatric and/or co-occurring challenges. Covered by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Connecticut.

Care Coordination
An in-home service for children and adolescents with behavioral and emotional challenges and their families and provides appropriate supports and services to maintain the child or adolescent in the community. Families and individuals may self-refer. Referrals also accepted from the community. There is no charge associated with services.

Mobile Crisis Intervention Services
Our Mobile Crisis Intervention Services program offers an immediate response to children and youth, ages 3 - 17, or 18 if still enrolled in school, experiencing behavioral health emergencies in the home, school and other community or hospital settings.
