We are proud of our long record of achievement and recognition from our peers and funders. Here are some of our most recent honors and awards.
Winter 2012 – Wheeler Executives Named DCF Regional Implementation Teams
Three Wheeler senior-level executives were named to two Department of Children and Families (DCF) Strengthening Families Regional Implementation Teams to advance Strengthening Families, a model emphasizing child-focused, family-centered practice, collaborative casework, community partnerships and measurable outcomes. Kim Nelson, LCSW, vice president, children’s outpatient and community-based services, was named to Regional Team IV, which serves DCF’s Hartford and Manchester region. Susan Walkama, LCSW, president and chief executive officer, and Elisabeth Cannata, Ph.D., vice president of community-based family services, were named to Regional Team VI, which serves DCF’s Meriden/New Britain region. The teams comprise a diverse group of community providers, families, key state partner agencies and DCF social workers and managers.
Winter 2012 – Wheeler Selected as Pilot Site for Statewide EHR Initiative
The Health Information Technology Exchange of Connecticut (HITE-CT) selected Wheeler Clinic as a pilot site to lead in early deployment of a statewide Health Information Exchange (HIE). The HIE will support electronic health information and data sharing across the health care system to enhance quality of care and services. Wheeler will contribute to the development, configuration and testing of the HIE. HITE-CT is a quasi-governmental agency, working with the Connecticut Department of Public Health to promote the development of health information technology, increase adoption and meaningful use of electronic health records, assure the privacy and security of electronic health information, enable information exchange and support monitoring of provider participation in the HIE.
December 2011 – Clinic Program Manager Joins Statewide Initiative for Veterans
Stacie Cull, LCSW, program manager for the clinic’s Domestic Violence Intervention Services, was selected to be part of a 10-member team of experts from Connecticut who participated in an intensive workshop as part of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) 2011 Veterans/Families Policy Academy. For the next year, Stacie and the team will develop a plan designed to meet the needs of service members and their families affected by intimate partner or family violence.
