Project STARS (Striving to Achieve Reading Success) is a specialized Connecticut Charts-A-Course-approved 15-hour literacy training program which incorporates the most recent research on early literacy, reading and cognitive development. Free workshops are offered to licensed child care and public preschool program staff members in Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven, New London, Norwalk and Waterbury. Participants will learn about:
- Creating environments to support language and literacy
- Book selection and building vocabulary
- Fostering dramatic play to support literacy and writing
- Assessing children's language development
- And much more
The Project STARS Literacy Track is a component of the Connecticut State Department of Education's Project STARS, funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
