Wheeler Clinic's Short-term Treatment and Assessment
Residential program is an innovative and uniquely designed residential
setting for children with behavioral, psychiatric and/or emotional challenges,
between the ages of 6 and 11, from the Hartford region. The STAR program
ensures that a child's length of stay is short-term by incorporating:
- A community focus
- In-home family services
- Comprehensive assessment and evaluation services
- A solution-focused treatment approach
- A multi-disciplinary team approach that includes
the child's family and other natural supports
Located in the heart of the Sheldon-Charter Oak neighborhood,
the STAR program helps children remain an integral part of the Hartford
community. The STAR program features a multidisciplinary team of psychologists,
social workers, psychiatrists, nurses, direct childcare counselors and
recreation therapists.
