Individuals are also needed to join Families Finding Families, Wheeler Clinic’s corps of volunteer recruiters who help spread the word about the need for caring and skilled foster parents. The Foster Care program works with foster parents to provide education, 24-hour support, childcare, respite and compensation for the foster child's expenses. The program serves girls and boys, 6 to 16 who need foster homes. Mature adults who are single or married, working or at home, are encouraged to apply.

Wheeler Clinic’s Prevent Child Abuse Connecticut (PCA CT), in partnership with Kohl’s stores, will host Kohl’s Cares for Kids Day at the Orange and Rocky Hill stores on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. As part of April’s Child Abuse Prevention month, this free community event provides families an opportunity to enjoy a variety of fun activities together and obtain information on keeping kids safe, happy and healthy. Kohl’s Kids Day will feature refreshments, games, facepainting, storytime and a coloring contest for the children, and informational exhibits, as well as fire and police demonstrations and first aid information. The event takes place at two Kohl’s locations: 1899 Silas Deane Highway in Rocky Hill and 250 Bull Lane in Orange. Kids Day events across the country will be held in partnership with chapters of Prevent Child Abuse America. PCA CT is Connecticut’s chapter of the national organization.

The documentary details their personal struggles as the cope with the emotional highs and lows.
