Impaired Driver Programs

First time offenders, under the general DWI law (including anyone under age 21) can apply to the court for participation in the pre-trial alcohol education program. The program, ten or fifteen weeks depending on Blood Alcohol Content (BAC), consists of weekly, ninety minute sessions during which clients participate in presentations on the physical and emotional effects of alcohol, the seriousness of drinking and driving, the differences between use, abuse, and addiction and other topics relevant to drinking and driving issues. Each session also includes significant group interaction where participants share their experiences and work together to plan and prepare for positive change.
